5G Speed Is Game Changing
Speeds Could Be 2000% faster than 4G
Deployment of the tech should be rolling out 2019 or earlier.
The lesser of the two presented tests was for Frankfurt, Germany. Regardless of being lower of the two, the results were still very impressive with browsing download gains of around 900 percent over 4g technology.
- Browsing went from 56 Mbps to 490 Mbps
- Latency went from 116 ms to 17 ms
- Downloads went from 8 Mbps to 100 Mbps (both for 10th percentile of users meaning 90% of users have greater speeds than these)
- Steaming went from 2K/30 FPS/8-bit to 8K/120 FPS/10-bit

Mobile devices launching around 2019 will feature broadband equivalent speeds, Qualcomm simulated 5G tests of real-world speeds and the results sound like every data hog’s dream. On the higher end of the performance testing was the San Francisco testing which yielded incredible results.
- Browsing went from 71 Mbps to 1400 Mbps
- Latency went from 115 ms to 4.9 ms
- Downloads went from 10 Mbps to 186 Mbps
- Steaming went from 2K/30 FPS/8-bit to 8K/120 FPS/10-bit

The transition from 4g to 5g will be very exciting. More can be read about the tests and performance metrics here.
